To follow the theme of some of my earlier blogs, the average heart rate for dogs largely depends on a few factors. Size is a big factor as well as the dogs health.
Large breeds have 60-100 beats per minute while small dogs its 100-140 beats per minute.The larger the dog the slower the heart rate, similarly the healthier the dog the lower the heart rate. Dogs of similar age and size who are not physically fit will have a faster heart rate. Puppies, however, typically have higher heart rates, it is normal for them to have a heart rate of 180 beats per minute up to one year of age.
