Shorkies like other small breeds are both yippie and have a big attitude, but they makeup for it by being fiercely loyal and adorable. Though small, Shorkies are great guard dogs as they’ll never let a guest enter without alerting you to their presence. These friendly and playful dogs are always up for a good time and great for both family’s and single adults alike. This breed is flexible and will fit into most any environment.

Shorkies are a descendent of a Yorkshire terrier (aka the Yorkie) and a Shih-Tzu, it makes a loveable and sweet combination. The breed was invented in the US as a designer breed to create an adorable, smart, and friendly lapdog. Although it’s still in the development stages the breed is already showing promise.

Shorkies do tend to suffer from tooth decay and other oral issues so be on the lookout and feed them dry foods in order to try and maintain their oral hygiene. They also tend to be quite stubborn with short attention spans, however they are trainable with a bit of patience and positive reinforcement. Let’s not forget that this is a toy breed so they love nothing more than sitting on your lap or playing fetch so try not to leave them alone for to long or they’ll get depressed.
